A House Built for His Presence · Week 1

Live the Word

A devotional on our first value, Holy Scriptures.

By Pastor Adam2 minute read

On Sunday we started our new series, A House Built for His Presence, with the first of our six values: Holy Scriptures. Live the Word. There’s always scripture and thoughts that I have when I’m preparing for my messages, and I don’t have time to share it all on a Sunday. So here’s a space just for that.

Our value · 01 · Holy Scriptures

Live the Word

We honor the Word of God. The Word is God-breathed, living, and active; it is the very voice of our Father, shaping how we think, live, and lead. If you want to hear the voice of God, open the Word of God. We don’t bend Scripture to fit culture; we let it form us in His presence, because His Word is the only truth and it never returns void.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 · Hebrews 4:12 · Isaiah 55:11

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10:17

Here’s my encouragement to you with this verse in mind. Maybe you lack faith for God to come through. For God to do the impossible. Or simply for God to provide for your family, because times are no doubt tough for so many people. So, if you lack faith, read the Word and stand on the Word. Because faith comes, and it comes by hearing the Word of God. You don’t have to manufacture faith. You just have to go where faith comes from, the Word of God!

On Sunday I read eight promises for eight things people carry. Every one of them is Yes in Jesus: “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20).

The Word of God is the sword the Spirit put in your hand. And a sword on the ground has never won a fight. PICK UP YOUR SWORD.

Today

Pick the one thing you’re carrying right now. Find its promise and say it out loud over your life three times today. Write it on your mirror at home or on your car dashboard. We serve a faithful God. His Word is our weapon in winning the victory He already won.

Pray

“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). Let faith come as I read Your Word today.

So we will open it. We will read it. We will hide it in our hearts, and we will do what it says. We will live the Word!
