Encounter

The ways you connect with God.

You can connect with God in all of these ways, but your top three are how you connect with Him best. Explore each one below.

Twelve ways

Twelve doorways to His presence.

01

Adoration

Worshipping God for who He is.

Adoration is the practice of beholding God: fixing your attention on His character, His goodness, and His worth. Whether through music, the written Word, or a quiet moment, adoration anchors the soul in awe.

02

Compassion

Loving people God loves.

Compassion is connecting with God by joining Him in His love for people who are hurting, overlooked, or in need. It is the discipline of letting your heart break for what breaks His.

03

Conversation

Hearing and speaking with God.

God speaks. Conversation is two-way: listening for His voice and responding honestly with your own. It is friendship with God in the rhythm of daily life.

04

Creation

Meeting God in what He has made.

The mountains, the ocean, the sky at sunset: creation declares God's glory. For some, the most consistent way to encounter God is to step outside and let His handiwork speak.

05

Expression

Encountering God through art and craft.

Drawing, painting, writing, music, building. Expression is how some hearts most naturally rise to God. Creativity becomes a doorway into His presence.

06

Fasting

Trading the table for the throne.

Fasting puts our appetites in their proper place. By temporarily setting aside food (or other things), we sharpen our hunger for God Himself.

07

Learning

Studying His Word and His ways.

For some, the path to God's heart runs through their mind. Learning is the discipline of letting Scripture, theology, and teaching deepen your knowledge of the One you love.

08

Meditation

Slowly chewing on truth.

Meditation is the discipline of soaking: repeating a verse, picturing a story, or letting one truth marinate in your mind until it changes how you see God and yourself.

09

Movement

Encountering God in the body.

Walking, running, kneeling, dancing. For some people the body becomes the doorway. Physical movement engages the whole person in worship.

10

Reformation

Aligning life with God's heart.

Reformation is the discipline of letting what you encounter in God change how you live, work, and steward what He's given you. It is faith working its way into the practical.

11

Remembrance

Marking what God has done.

Journals, stones, photos, communion. Remembrance is the discipline of going back over God's faithfulness so it shapes your faith for what's ahead.

12

Solitude

Quiet time with God alone.

Solitude is the discipline of pulling away from the noise so you can be present to God. It is the hidden place that fuels everything public.

The daily practice

Five steps. Every morning.

The Intimate Pursuit Guide walks you through a simple daily rhythm: worship, ask God to speak, read the Word, pray through your list, and close with two prayers. It isn’t the only way. It’s a way to start. For the reading itself, pair it with The Intimate Pursuit reading plan.
