A Journey Church baptism celebration

Baptism

Go public with your faith.

Life is full of next steps, each one bringing us closer to the God who created us and loves us. If you've made the decision to follow Christ, one of the most valuable next steps you can take is baptism.

Is baptism your next step?

A next step in following Jesus.

Life is full of next steps, each one bringing us closer to the God who created us and loves us. If you've made the decision to follow Christ, one of the most valuable next steps you can take is baptism.

Keep reading to find out more about baptism, what baptism looks like at Journey Church, and how you can get baptized.

What is baptism all about?

Three things baptism is.

01 · Symbol

A symbol of what Jesus did for us.

When we go down into the water, we’re reminded of Jesus’ death on the cross and how His sacrifice covered our sins. When we come out of the water, we’re reminded that three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and securing eternal life for us. Baptism is a symbol (not just for us, but for our friends and family as well) that the old is gone and the new has come.

02 · Public

Going public with your faith.

When you make a life-changing decision, you want to tell everyone about it! Baptism is an opportunity for you to celebrate with your friends and family and tell others about the hope you've found in Jesus. Think about who you want to celebrate with you and invite them.

03 · Example

Following Jesus' example.

In Matthew 3(opens in a new window), Jesus chose to get baptized before starting His ministry here on earth. When we make that same choice, we're living how Jesus lived. Later, in Matthew 28(opens in a new window), Jesus told His followers to go and baptize others. As we get baptized and baptize others, Jesus' message of love spreads around the world.

What it looks like

Baptism at Journey Church.

Baptisms happen during our regular Sunday services at Journey Church, right in the middle of worship, with the whole church family cheering you on.

If you sign up to be baptized, your pastor will reach out and tell you when to arrive and any other details you need to know. When you arrive, you'll check in and receive your free baptism t-shirt.

After receiving your items, you'll change into your baptism t-shirt and bring extra clothes. Your pastor will walk you through getting in and out of the baptism pool. You'll be guided throughout the entire process, and your pastor will be available to answer any questions you have.

How to get baptized

Let us know you're ready.

The first step to getting baptized is letting us know you’re interested. Fill out the form and a pastor will reach out to you to connect and help you take the next step.
